Dharma Seeds is
a non-profit organization that
produces a quarterly newspaper
about meditation with a Catholic and Zen focus for those in
jail or incarcerated in state and federal prisons.
We also facilitate workshops for those incarcerated and for churches
in which we teach various workshops dealing with social justice issues.
Primarily we teach meditation, conflict resolution and alternatives to
violence.
Dharma Seeds is a member of the Prison
Dharma Network.
Dharma Seeds works for
justice for the
poor and the marginalized in
the name of the basic human needs with a spiritual direction. The
executive director advocates in the public arena for respect for human
life on
issues of corrections, euthanasia, welfare reform, immigration, the
death penalty and right to work. The director persuades the
legislatures and public agencies to enact legislation and implement
policies which respect life, value human dignity, recognize the
rights of workers and foster the responsibility of society to promote
the well being of families and communities. We work to transform the
lives we touch through our ministry to prisoners, prison staff and
volunteers with the transformative traditions of contemplative life.
The active force are
volunteers working along with the director to
improve the lives of the community where the volunteers live. They
work with programs such as Centering Prayer, Zen meditations, and
Conflict Resolution through on-going workshops and groups
specifically in the correctional facilities.
